Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden
Mountain Botanical Garden in Chiang Mai Featuring Tropical Glasshouses, Canopy Walkways, and Palm Displays
Located in the hills of Mae Rim just outside Chiang Mai, Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden is Thailand’s first international-standard botanical garden and a leading center for plant conservation and research. Established in 1992, the garden spans a large mountainous landscape where visitors can explore a variety of themed collections set against a backdrop of forested slopes. Palms are integrated throughout both outdoor plantings and climate-controlled glasshouses, where tropical species thrive in carefully curated environments. Elevated canopy walkways provide unique perspectives of the surrounding vegetation, allowing visitors to experience the vertical structure of the forest. The combination of cooler mountain air and tropical plant diversity creates a distinctive setting compared to lowland gardens. With its scenic terrain, innovative features, and extensive plant collections, Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden offers a memorable destination to experience palms and tropical flora in northern Thailand.
