Historic Victorian Conservatory in Columbus Featuring the Iconic John F. Wolfe Palm House
Located in Columbus, Ohio, Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is one of the Midwest’s most impressive indoor botanical destinations and home to the historic John F. Wolfe Palm House. Originally constructed in 1895 and inspired by the great Victorian glasshouses of Europe, the soaring glass structure shelters a lush tropical environment where visitors can experience towering palms and dense tropical foliage beneath a dramatic glass dome. The Palm House forms the centerpiece of the conservatory complex, creating a warm and immersive landscape that contrasts beautifully with Ohio’s seasonal climate. Throughout the conservatory’s interconnected galleries and outdoor gardens, visitors encounter a wide range of plant collections, educational exhibits, and seasonal horticultural displays. The blend of historic architecture, mature tropical plantings, and carefully curated garden spaces makes Franklin Park Conservatory one of the most memorable places in the Midwest to experience palms and other exotic plants thriving year-round.
The John F. Wolfe Palm House, Dorothy M. Davis Showhouse, and Wolfe Terrace are currently closed for renovation and will reopen in fall 2027.
