About Zombia antillarum
This is a strikingly attractive palm with a trunk that looks to be wrapped in burlap and needles. This exotic unusual palm grows dense multi-trunked clumps. Its crown has up to a dozen fan-shaped leaves that are a dull green on the surface and gray to whitish on the undersides. This species is highly valued for its unique appearance, small stature and salt tolerance. This is the only species of its genus. The thatched leaf stems of zombie palm are lined with long, vicious spines that are said to be used as voodoo doll needles, hence it's common name.

Cultivation Tips
Select a location with full to partial sun and well-drained, sandy soil. It is very drought tolerant, but growth is more robust if plants are given regular moisture during the growing season. This species will thrive in well drained but moist, rich organic mix. Remember try to stay away from wet, mucky or arid soils. Fertilize sparingly at least six inches away from the base, with a slow time released product during the growing season only.
