This palm is a clustering species, forming multiple slender stems that can reach medium heights. The trunks are thin and ringed with leaf scars, often growing in tight groups that give it a graceful, bamboo-like appearance. The crown carries pinnate leaves with leaflets arranged in a slightly irregular, sometimes twisted fashion, creating a textured, airy look. Inflorescences emerge among the leaves and produce small, inconspicuous flowers that later develop into elongated, ovoid fruits, often orange to red when ripe. It is rarely seen in cultivation outside its native range and is mostly admired by collectors and botanical gardens with cloud forest or highland tropical conditions.
