About Washingtonia robusta
The tree has large, fan-shaped leaves that can be up to 6 feet wide. The leaves are green and glossy, and the tree produces large clusters of small white flowers that are followed by small, black fruits. The trunk is thin and fibrous, and it is often used for thatching and other forms of construction in its native range. This species is considered to be drought-tolerant and is often used as a landscaping tree in warm climates.

Cultivation Tips
This species requires plenty of sunlight. These plants thrive in either clay or sandy soil as long as there is good drainage. They do well in drought as well and can tolerate cold temperatures. Feed regularly during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
