A recently discovered species in 2006 from the most remote corner of India.  In its natural habitat, it can be found growing on grassy or rocky slopes to around 2000m elevation.  This species is a solitary palm with a slender trunk, typically bare near the bottom, but covered with fibers and leaf bases higher up near the crown.  The leaves can be up to four feet wide and are thick, stiff and a darker green than other species of this genus.  Leaves are powdery white on the undersides.  The petioles are long with short spines.   The small round fruit turns from green to yellow as it ripens, before turning brown to black when fully ripe.
