About Thrinax parviflora subsp. parviflora
This is a solitary palm native to the Blue Mountains of eastern Jamaica, with a slender, grayish trunk that is ringed with faint leaf scars. Its crown consists of 10–20 graceful, partly fan-shaped leaves with deeply divided, drooping leaf segments. The inflorescences are long and slender, emerging below the leaves and extending beyond them, carrying many tiny white flowers that attract local pollinators. The fruit is small, round, and snowy white when ripe—distinctive among Caribbean fan palms and quite attractive against the green foliage.

Cultivation Tips
Choose a warm, sunny location with excellent air circulation and protection from hard frost. It grows best in full sun from a young age, though partial shade is tolerated during its juvenile stage. The species prefers sandy or rocky soils with sharp drainage and low to moderate fertility, mimicking its native limestone hillsides. Water moderately—established palms are drought-tolerant but appreciate supplemental irrigation during dry spells. Fertilize lightly two to three times per year with a balanced, slow-release formula suited for palms, especially in nutrient-poor soils.
