This is a recently described species, recognized as part of ongoing work to refine and better define this highly diverse genus.  It is a solitary, medium-sized palm with a straight, slender trunk that is light gray and faintly ringed as it matures. The crown is open and graceful, carrying arched pinnate leaves with narrow, slightly drooping leaflets that give the palm a soft, feathery appearance in motion. Petioles are lightly fibrous and unarmed, blending smoothly into the leaf bases without forming a crownshaft. The overall habit is elegant rather than massive, placing this species visually somewhere between the bold look of Syagrus romanzoffiana and the finer texture of lesser-known cerrado species. Inflorescences emerge among the leaves and produce oval fruits that ripen to yellow-orange, each containing a single seed.
