About Sommieria leucophylla
This is a very attractive, yet small understory palm native to wet lowland rainforests. It has an underground or shortly emergent, solitary trunk. The crown has numerous, usually entire, deeply bifid dark green leaves with silvery white to golden undersides making a striking contrast. The erect, branched inflorescence emerges from within the leaves. After flowering, the small fruit turns brown and is covered in warts. This species is still very rare in cultivation.

Cultivation Tips
Select a protected spot in the garden with full to partial shade and some indirect sunlight. It is a very tropical palm, so it requires high humidity and rfruitegular watering. Plant in rich soil with high levels of organic matter. Feed occasionally during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
