About Socratea exorrhiza
This species is a commonly found emerging from the canopy in rainforests across Central and South America. Unlike other palms that have roots fully hidden underground, this species has prominent stilt-like roots that grow outward from the base of the tree. It is a tall solitary palm species with a slender gray trunk. Its modest crown has dark green, pinnate leaves that can reach up to 2m long. The tubular sheaths form the crownshaft, which is a bluish-green color. Small, oval shaped fruit becomes yellowish green as it ripens.

Cultivation Tips
Select a location that receives full sun to partial shade. It will thrive in moist, well drained soil. Water regularly and avoid letting the soil dry out in between waternigs. Fertilize the palm monthly during the spring and summer months with a balanced fertilizer.
