This is a solitary hybrid fan palm combining traits of Sabal causiarum and Sabal palmetto. The palm develops a sturdy trunk that is typically thicker than Sabal palmetto but smaller and less massive than the imposing trunk of Sabal causiarum. The crown consists of large costapalmate leaves with broad segments that radiate from the petiole, forming a full, rounded canopy typical of the genus. Leaf color is generally deep green, and the leaves often show the strong, stiff structure inherited from Sabal causiarum while maintaining the graceful proportions of Sabal palmetto. Inflorescences emerge among the leaves and branch extensively, producing small cream-colored flowers followed by clusters of rounded dark fruits. Because both parent species are highly adaptable and tolerant of heat, wind, and salt, this hybrid is expected to be a durable landscape palm in warm climates.
