This is a slender, clustering palm with multiple smooth gray trunks that often rise in tight clumps. Each trunk supports a pale green to light gray crownshaft that adds a clean, sculptural accent to the plant’s profile. The crown consists of several gracefully arching pinnate leaves with glossy, deep green leaflets that are neatly arranged and slightly drooping at their tips. The inflorescences emerge below the crownshaft and carry cream-colored flowers on short, branched stalks. These later give way to bright red to orange, spindle-shaped fruits that add color and attract birds. Although not widely cultivated, it deserves more attention for its manageable size and elegant form in tropical and subtropical gardens.
