About Ptychococcus paradoxus
This is a solitary palm species native to lowland coastal forests and swamps, mangroves. It has a slender trunk ringed with leaf scars, topped with a tall, light green crownshaft. I has a full crown of large, dark green, glossy leaves with short petioles. The leaflets are wide and have jagged ends. The branched inflorescence emerges below the base of the crownshaft. The large fruit turns from green to orange as it ripens.

Cultivation Tips
Select a sheltered location that receives plenty of shade, especially when young. This is a tropical species, so it will thrive in a warm, humid environment. Plisant in rich, well drained soil. Water regularly as this species is native to areas near rivers and swamps and can tolerate periods of flooding. Fertilized occasionally during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
