This is a solitary, understory palm that forms tight groups of slender, upright stems emerging from a compact base. It lacks a prominent crownshaft, with leaves appearing to arise more directly from the stem, giving the plant a clean, compact profile. The crown is composed of elegantly arranged pinnate leaves, often with a slightly irregular leaflet spacing that adds a soft, textured look, and a rich green coloration typical of shaded tropical environments. New leaves emerge with a reddish hue.  Its inflorescences emerge low on the stem and are relatively modest, in keeping with many understory Pinanga species, producing small, inconspicuous flowers. The fruit develops in small clusters, typically ripening to shades of red or orange that provide subtle contrast against the deep green foliage. A recently described species, it remains rare in cultivation.
