This is a graceful, clustering understory palm prized for its slender stems and refined proportions rather than sheer size. The trunks are thin, neatly ringed, and topped by smooth green to lightly mottled crownshafts that give the palm a clean, polished look. crownshaft is elongate and subtly swollen, often showing dusky purplish-brown to light orange tones with a fine, scurfy coating that makes the whole sheath area look almost “brushed” in certain light. Its crown carries softly arching pinnate leaves with narrow, evenly spaced leaflets that create a delicate, almost feathery texture in shaded settings. Inflorescences emerge below the crownshaft often flushed with warm reddish or orange tones.  The fruits ripen from bright red to deep purple or nearly black, with older clusters developing a softly wrinkled texture that adds even more visual interest.
