This is a small solitary understory palm with a single slender upright trunk with a narrow diameter and distinct ringed leaf scars. The crownshaft is elongate, cylindrical, and light green, sometimes showing subtle brownish tones, forming a clean and elegant column beneath the crown. The crown holds five to six pinnate leaves with irregularly spaced leaflets that are dark green above and often display subtle mottling, while the undersides have a slightly ashy tone that gives the foliage a refined, textured appearance. The flower stalk emerges below the crownshaft and hangs downward, producing neat rows of developing fruit along flattened branches. The fruits are oblong and prominently beaked, ripening from red to purplish-black and creating an attractive contrast against the green crownshaft and trunk. This species is endemic to lowland forests, where it grows in shaded, humid understory conditions and remains extremely rare in cultivation.
