About Pinanga adangensis
This clustering palm produces multiple slender, ringed stems that rise from the base, usually staying under 6 meters tall. Each stem is topped with a smooth yellow crownshaft, which creates a striking contrast with the deep green leaves above. The crown consists of pinnate leaves with narrow, arching leaflets, dark green on top and lighter beneath, giving the canopy a soft, layered appearance. Inflorescences emerge just below the crownshaft, holding clusters of small whitish flowers that later ripen into bright red, oval fruits. Endemic to Koh Adang in southern Thailand, its name directly reflects this island origin.

Young plants require shelter from full sun, but with age they can adapt to brighter conditions if ample moisture is maintained. It thrives in rich, organic soils that retain moisture while draining freely, ensuring the roots don’t sit in stagnant water. Regular watering is essential, particularly in warmer months, to keep the soil evenly moist.
