This hybrid palm species exhibits traits from both species. It is a suckering palm that grows to a medium height, taller than roebelenii, but shorter than reclinata. Its crown is topped with feather shaped leaves that are thicker than roebelenii, but less plumose than reclinata. Its petioles are covered with sharp spines.
