About Oncosperma tigillarium
This is a tall, slender, palm with a trunk ringed with numerous old leaf scars and densely armed with scattered, slender black spines. Its crownshaft is also armed with spines. The dark green fronds are elegantly-arched. The multi branched inflorescence is yellow and emerges below the fronds. Flowers form in groups of 3 (2 male flowers to 1 female flower). The round fruit turns purple to black as it ripens.
