This is a solitary palm with a sturdy, upright trunk marked by clean, visible rings from old leaves. At the top sits a short but clearly defined green crownshaft that gives the palm a neat, well-finished look. The leaves arch outward gracefully and are made up of broad leaflets that hang slightly and end in uneven, jagged tips—an easy detail to spot once you know what to look for. Below the crownshaft, pale-colored flower stalks appear and later develop into rounded fruits that ripen to a noticeable red. It was originally described as part of another genus, but further study showed it was unique enough to earn its own genus, Manjekia, formally published in 2014.
