About Linospadix monostachyos
In habitat, this species can be found in very wet areas of the rainforest at moderate altitudes. It is a small solitary understory palm. The trunk is very slender and pale gray. In the past, the stem was used to make canes (walking sticks), hence the common name. The crown is topped with 8-10 glossy green leaves. When it flowers, it has showy spikes of cream flowers. The small round fruit turn red as they ripen and are edible.

Cultivation Tips
Select a well sheltered location that receives plenty of shade and indirect sunlight. Plant in soil that is rich in organic matter and drains well. Water regularly and take care not to let the soil dry out in between waterings. Feed occasionally during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
