About Laccospadix australasicus
This species is a solitary palm or can be a clumping palm with multiple trunks. Either way, the trunk is slender. The leaflets are dark green and glossy on the upper surface and light green on the lower surface. New fronds often emerge reddish brown in color. It produces small, cream-colored flowers that grow in clusters. The fruit is round and black when ripe. Despite being relatively easy to care for, it is rarely seen in cultivation outside Australia.

Cultivation Tips
This species thrives in bright, indirect light, so avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves. Place the plant in a location that receives partial to full shade. While this species is quite cold tolerant, it prefers high humidity levels. It prefers a well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Use a mixture of peat moss, perlite, and sand in equal parts to create a well-draining soil mix. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between watering. Feed the plant with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer every two to three months during the growing season. Avoid fertilizing during the winter months.
