About Juania australis
This stunning palm species is only found in the remote Juan-Fernández Islands off the coast of Chile. Due to its remote native habitat and lack of seeds available for cultivation, it is considered by some to be the worlds rarest palm! It is large, solitary, and has a green trunk with distinct grey rings. It has a crown of stiff, dark green leaves that are greyish underneath. It is rare in cultivation due to its exacting cultivation requirements.

Cultivation Tips
This species is somewhat difficult to grow as it requires very humid, rainy, cool temperatures and does not do well in hot, arid climates. For better cultivation and growth, we must provide the ideal conditions for this palm, that is, those of the island, that is, moderate temperatures, high humidity, frequent watering and wind. They prefer very well drained, acidic soils and under favorable conditions can be fairly rapidly growing once a trunk has been formed. Feed regularly during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilzier.
