About Hyophorbe indica
This is a solitary palm species with a slender trunk. It has a crown with arching feather shaped upright leaves. Two forms in this species: the red form is notable for having a red to rust colored crownshaft, while the green form has a more typical green crownshaft. The large, branched inflorescence bears yellowish-white flowers when in bloom. The smal fruit turns orange to red as it ripens. This species is related to the Bottle and Spindle Palms. While this species is quite popular in cultivation, they are reported to be near extinction in the wild.

Cultivation Tips
Select a location that receives full to partial shade when young. As the palm matures, it can handle more sun. Plant in rich soil that drains well. Water frequently and take precautions not to let the soil dry out in between waterings. Feed occasionally during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
