About Hydriastele beguinii
Formerly known as Siphokentia beguinii. This is a solitary, understory palm with a slender trunk. The leaves are green and long, with a feathery, frond-like appearance. The leaves are covered in small, brown or black spines, giving the plant a rough texture. The plant produces inflorescences with small, yellow-white flowers that are followed by clusters of orange to red fruit.

Cultivation Tips
This species is well-suited to sheltered, shady conditions, particularly as a juvenile. As it matures, it can grow in brighter light if acclimated gradually. It prefers well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter and will thrive in consistently moist but not waterlogged soil. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, and ensure that the soil does not dry out completely.
