About Corypha umbraculifera
This species is known as one of the largest palms in the world. It has a thick solitary trunk ringed with fallen leaf base scars. It’s crown has large, fan-shaped leaves that can be up to 2.1 meters long and 6 meters wide. The leaves have a petiole that can be up to 4 meters long and are armed with black teeth. It is notable for having the largest inflorescence of any plant in the world, reaching 9 meters in high and 12 meters wide, with up to 24 million tiny yellow to white flowers. The inflorescence is terminal, meaning the palm flowers only once and dies afterward. The golf ball sized fruit turns from green to brown as it ripens.

Cultivation Tips
Plant in a sunny location as this species requires full sun. Soil should be moist, but well drained with neutral pH. Water sparingly as it is drought tolerant. Needs considerable space. Feed occasionally during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
