A solitary, slender-trunked palm from eastern Cuba, this subspecies displays a neatly fibrous trunk that gradually smooths with age. The crown is dense and rounded, filled with firm, fan-shaped leaves that are deep green above and gleaming silver beneath, creating a brilliant contrast in sunlight. Each leaf sits atop a narrow petiole that helps the crown maintain a crisp, symmetrical shape even in breezy conditions. The flower stalks emerge within the crown, producing clusters of tiny pale blossoms. As they mature, the small fruits turn a distinctive pink—an unmistakable feature that gives this form its name before they finally darken to purple-black.
