Provide bright shade to filtered sunlight, especially when young, as the delicate leaf segments can scorch under intense direct exposure. Use a rich, organic, well-draining soil that retains consistent moisture without becoming waterlogged, similar to a humus-heavy forest floor mix. Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, increasing humidity if grown indoors or in a greenhouse setting. Apply a balanced palm fertilizer lightly but consistently during the growing season, and protect from cold temperatures, as this is a true tropical species with little tolerance for frost.
