About Chuniophoenix hainanensis
In habitat, this species can be found only on Hainan Island in subtropical or tropical rainforests. This species is a clustering palm with numerous stems. It is notable for its striking appearance, with white petioles and underside of its leaves. Its crown is topped with deeply cut fan-shaped leaves. Large bunches of bright red, cherry-sized fruits are a pleasant ornamental feature. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Cultivation Tips
This species is well suited for container growing and can be kept indoors. Plant in a location that receives partial to full shade, particularly when young. Place in a location sheltered from wind as it may shreds the leaves. As it matures, it can withstand filtered morning sun, and can stand full sun in high humidity regions. The leaves may get scorched by direct sunlight. It is still very rare in cultivation. Provide ample amounts of water, and take precaution not to let the soil dry out in between waterings. It prefers fertile, organic, moist, well drained soils. Feed several times during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
