About Chamaedorea tepejilote
Usually solitary trunked but can also form clumps. It has one of the fattest and tallest trunks of this species. Green ringed trunk with white leaf base scars have visual affinities to bamboo, especially when planted in groups. The unopened inflorescences resemble an ear of corn in appearance and size. Tepejilote means "mountain maize" in the Nahuatl language and was selected because of this resemblance.

Cultivation Tips
Plant in a location that receives full shade to partial shade as it is found in habitat under the rainforest canopy. Water regularly, as it prefers moist soil that is well drained. IT is not drought tolerant, so take precaution from letting soil dry out in between waterings. Keep it sheltered from winds and it does not tolerate arid environments well. Fertilize regularly during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
