About Chamaedorea plumosa
In habitat, this species is found in dense, wet forests. This slender trunked solitary species has a prominently ringed trunk. The crown is topped with finely pinnate and densely plumose green leaves with very narrow leaflets. Fruit turns black when ripe.

Cultivation Tips
Often described as the most sun tolerant in the species, this palm requires partial shade to full sun. It is very tolerant of cool conditions and can take light freezes without damage. It can grow in a variety of soil types, but will thrive in rich fast draining loamy soil. Water regularly and ensure the top layer of soil does not dry out in between waterings. Feed regularly during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer. This species should be more common in cultivation than it currently is.
