This is a slender, clustering understory palm that forms multiple thin, ringed trunks and remains compact even at maturity. Each stem supports a smooth, subtly swollen crownshaft that often shows soft green to gray-green tones, blending beautifully into its rainforest surroundings. The crown is composed of gracefully arching pinnate leaves with narrow, neatly arranged leaflets that give the palm a refined, almost delicate appearance. Its inflorescences emerge just below the crownshaft and are relatively thick and robust for the genus, bearing small cream to pale yellow flowers. These develop into small, rounded fruits that ripen to a deep red, adding a quiet but striking contrast against the foliage. This species remains quite rare in cultivation and is still seldom seen outside of botanical collections or specialty growers.
