This is a small palm that grows either as a single stem or in little clumps. The stems are slim and upright, topped with a neat greenish crownshaft. Its leaves are especially eye-catching because they don’t follow a regular pattern—each one breaks into a handful of curved, uneven segments that give the palm a very distinctive look. Short flower spikes appear just below the crownshaft, carrying clusters of tiny pale blossoms. The fruits are small, oval, and ripen to a bright red, adding a splash of color against the dark green leaves. This palm grows in rainforest at low to mid elevations, and it takes its name from Amedeo Giulianetti, an early plant collector in the region.
