About Bentinckia condapanna
In habitat, this species is found only in the steep slopes of evergreen forests of southern India. It is a solitary palm with a thick and prominently ringed trunk. The trunk starts glaucous green and turns to orange-brown or gray. The crownshaft has charcoal and orange markings. The crown it has 6-8 arching feather leaves. The juvenile foliage has very wide leaflets which become narrower as the palm matures. Its flowers are small, male (scarlet), female (lilac or violet). The small round fruit turns red as it ripens. This species is threatened by habitat loss and is facing a significant risk of extinction in coming years.

Cultivation Tips
This species is a very fast grower. Plant in a location that receives full sun to partial shade. Provide more shade when young. This species will thrive if planted in soil that is rich in organic matter and drains well. Water regularly and take care not to let the soil dry out in between waterings. Feed regularly during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
