About Attalea speciosa
This species is a large solitary palm with an erect trunk. It has a thick crown of erect, pinnate leaves. Juvenile specimens are slow to grow a trunk. The whitish and yellowish flowers occur on branched inflorescences that can reach 1.5m long. The oblong fruit looks similar to small coconuts. This species has important economic value as both the leaves and fruit have numerous commercial uses.

Cultivation Tips
Select a location that receives full sun. Plant in rich, loamy soil with excellent drainage. It is somewhat drought tolerant, so take precaution not to let the roots sit in standing water. Feed occasionally during the growing season with a high quality palm fertililzer.
