The leaves are stiff and gray-green to deep green, with leaflets arranged in a somewhat irregular pattern that gives the plant a coarse, textural appearance. Its inflorescences emerge at or just above ground level, producing typical Attalea flowers followed by relatively small, rounded fruits compared to the larger species in the genus. Native to Brazil’s cerrado, this palm is well adapted to seasonal drought, nutrient-poor soils, and periodic fire.
