About Attalea crassispatha

This species is a tall solitary palm native to an isolated area of southwest Haiti. It has a dense crown of long feather shaped leaves. When mature, its appearance can resemble a coconut palm with a thicker trunk. The small, oval shaped fruit is edible and turns red as it ripens. It is one of the rarest palms in the world with only 24 specimens found in the wild during a 2017 study.
