This is a solitary, compact palm that typically develops a short to partially subterranean trunk, giving it a low-growing, ground-oriented profile. It lacks a crownshaft and produces a dense crown of pinnate leaves that radiate outward, often forming a rounded, full appearance close to the ground. The leaves are sturdy and deep green, with leaflets arranged along the rachis in a slightly irregular pattern, adding texture and a rugged aesthetic. Its inflorescences emerge among the leaves at or near ground level, producing typical Attalea flowers followed by relatively small, fibrous fruits compared to the larger forest species. Native to Brazil and believed to be restricted to localized cerrado habitats, this species is adapted to seasonal drought, nutrient-poor soils, and open conditions. It remains extremely rare in cultivation and is primarily of interest to collectors focused on lesser-known, habitat-specific palms.
