About Areca hutchinsoniana
This species is a beautiful, rare, medium-sized palm. It is native to lowland rainforests and is naturally occurring only on the Philippine island of Mindanao. It is a solitary palm with a slender, smooth, ringed, green trunk. Its slightly bulging, green crownshaft holds an elegant crown of keeled, ascending leaves with broad, glossy green leaflets. The small, oval shaped fruit turns red as it becomes ripe.

Cultivation Tips
Select a warm, sheltered location that receives full to partial shade, especially when young. As it matures, it can handle more indirect sunlight. Plant in rich soil that drains well. Water regularly and ensure roots do not dry out in between waterings. Feed regularly during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer. It is best suited to the tropical garden where it is easy and fast growing and has great potential as a landscape plant.
