This is a slender, clustering palm with a smooth gray trunk that remains relatively thin even at maturity, giving the species a refined and elegant appearance. It features a well-developed green crownshaft that is often lightly waxy and contrasts beautifully against the trunk. The crown consists of gracefully arching pinnate leaves with narrow, neatly arranged leaflets that create a soft, feathery texture, while the petioles and emerging spear leaves can show subtle yellow-green tones in ideal growing conditions. Its inflorescences emerge beneath the crownshaft and branch into multiple creamy-white flowering stems that later produce small oval fruits that ripen from green to orange-red. Native to the wet forests of Sri Lanka, this species remains uncommon in cultivation outside specialized palm collections and tropical botanical gardens.
