This species is found in lowland rainforests, often in moist, shaded environments.  It is a slender, clustering palm with multiple thin stems.  Each stem is green to grayish in color and is topped with a smooth, tubular crownshaft that is typically green but may take on a slightly waxy or bluish cast depending on age and light exposure. The crown consists of gracefully arching, pinnate leaves that can reach 2 meters.  The leaflets are arranged in a narrow, slightly V-shaped plane, giving the fronds a neat and elegant look. The inflorescence emerges below the crownshaft and is branched, bearing both male and female flowers. The structure is modest in size compared to the foliage.  The fruit is small, ovoid and turns orange or reddish when ripe.
