Cultivation Tips
In the wild, this is an understory palm that grows in clearings as well as in shaded portions of the rainforest and other moist habitats. In cultivation, they will do best when young planted in a sheltered, shaded position. As they mature, they can handle full sun, but they keep their best deep green color in partial shade, They prefer well drained, porous soils rich in humus. Water regularly and don't let the soil dry out in between waterings. Apply fertilizer three times a year, in spring, summer and fall.. This is an attractive palm rarely seen in cultivation.
