This species is a highly ornamental, solitary palm with a slender, grayish brown trunk. The trunk has close rings from leaf scars and is topped with a pale gray-green crownshaft that is swollen at the base. Its crown is topped with about 10 arching leaves with reddish brown petioles. Leaflets are green on top and bottom and are somewhat drooping. When in bloom, the arching Inflorescence is branched to three or four orders with green to white flowers. The fruit is oval shaped and turns from green to yellow and finally bright red when ripe. This species is considered endangered due to habitat destruction.
