About Thrinax radiata
This is a solitary, slender-trunked fan palm that typically develops a smooth, gray trunk often marked with faint leaf-scar rings. This species lacks a crownshaft, with its leaves emerging directly from the top of the trunk. The crown is open and airy, composed of circular to semicircular palmate leaves that are bright green above and distinctly silvery-white beneath, with stiff, radiating segments and fibrous petiole margins. Inflorescences are arching to drooping, branched, and extend beyond the leaves, bearing small, fragrant, creamy-white flowers. The fruit is a small, spherical drupe that matures from green to white.
Cultivation Tips
Plant in a well-draining soil mix, as the plant does not tolerate standing water. Choose a location in full sun to partial shade, as it prefers bright, indirect light. Water regularly, but be sure to allow the soil to dry out slightly between watering. Feed with a balanced fertilizer every few months to encourage healthy growth.
