About Sabal x brazoriensis

This species is considered a natural hybrid of Sabal minor and Sabal palmetto.  Genetic testing provides strong evidence that it is a hybrid, but one that has been established a long time ago.  It is distinguished by its often strongly costapalmate leaves and, when by its trunk.  The leaves are green with a blueish cover. This is the most cold hardy species of its genus.

Cultivation Tips

Plant in well irrigated soil. This species is drought resistant and can survive a dry season. Requires full sun. Fairly simple to maintain and grow. Avoid over pruning. Feed occasionally with a high quality palm fertilizer.
