This species is a medium-sized palm with a single trunk which is usually straight and slender, and up to 20 cm in diameter. The crown consists of large, fan-shaped leaves that are up to 2 meters long. The leaves are pleated and circular, and can be up to 2 meters in diameter.

Cultivation Tips

Plant in a well shaded position, particularly as a juvenile. As it matures, it becomes a bit more tolerate of partial sun. Water regularly and ensure the soil remains moist in between watering. This is one of the most cold tolerant of the species. Feed regularly during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
