About Licuala grandis
This exotic looking species is a solitary palm with a brown to grey upright and slender trunk. It has attractively pleated fan-shaped leaves which almost form a perfect circle. The leaf segments are dark glossy green and the edges are notched. The inflorescence emerges from among the leaves. The green fruit is round and turns red when ripe.
Cultivation Tips
It will grow best in bright, indirect light. The plant can also tolerate full sun once it has established. If the leaves start burning though, move it to indirect sunlight. This will do well with infrequent, deep watering. Allow the top couple of inches of the soil to dry and then water thoroughly. Mist the plant two or three times a week to keep humidity levels comfortable. Fertilize lightly throughout the growing season.
