About Gaussia gomez-pompae
This is a solitary palm species which grows on steep rocky limestone slopes in its natural habitat. It has a slender trunk which takes on a unique bottle shaped appearance when young, hence its common name. It crown is topped with long, thin pinnate leaves which are arranged in four rows, with a yellow midrib. The small round fruit turns orange-red when ripe.
Cultivation Tips
Select a location that receives partial shade to full sun. It will thrive if planted in rich limestone based soil that is well-drained. This species is best suited to a humid tropical or sub-tropical environment. Fertilize regularly with a high quality palm fertilizer.
