About Copernicia baileyana

A stunning, large slow-growing palm tree with columnar, smooth concrete grey trunk and a huge crown of numerous fan-shaped leaves. Stem smooth, grey, with remnants of dead fronds and leaf bases at the top. Flowers cream-coloured, arching from crown in branches, up to 2.1 m long.

Cultivation Tips

Grows best in full sun with moist but well drained soil. It is a tough palm that can adapt to variety of different soil conditions and also tolerate drought. Apply fertilizer that has continuous release formula twice a year during growing season. Prefers alkaline to neutral soils. Can tolerate cold snaps into high 20s. Some salt tolerance.
