About Coccothrinax hioramii
This wonderful species is native to dry, open woodlands, savannas and coastal areas in eastern Cuba. It has a slender trunk, that is covered in leaf fibers and is topped with a crown of circular leaves, that are deeply divided. Leaves are dark green above and silvery white underneath.
Cultivation Tips
Select a location that receives partial shade to full sun. Plant in rich soil with excellent drainage. Take preauction not to overwater as this species is well suited for the drier tropics. It is somewhat cold hardy and can withstand an occasional light freeze. Feed occasionally during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
